All about the Heartwork Tattoo Festival

India's biggest tattoo festival was here in Delhi and boy, it was crazy! If you are a fan of body-ink art then this festival is a sure deal to follow. To see tattooed people all around, the buzzing of the needles and machines, loud Heavy metal playing in the background, tattoo artists sitting at their booths with their gloves on and heart out turning into a piece of art on people's skin.

Tattoos- They hold a lot of importance in people's lives not just today but also since ages. Our grandparents or great grandparents also had them. Their techniques were different - manual and gradual. Now, the artists have good quality tattoo machines, sterile inks and a lot of creativity. One such great example was this Heartwork Tattoo Festival that happened in Delhi in the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium. We could see how this art of tattoo making and these tattoo festivals are so underrated. Such festivals attract people of their own tribe. Tattooed people with crazy piercings and crazy hairstyles, some with shaved heads, some with dread locks..

Roaming around in the festival, we read it somewhere, "Tattoos are already there inside our skins, they just come out on their time'. It's amazing to see that even after they are painful, they show the most beautiful and emotional sides of the people.  They are the mirrors of people's souls and their own imaginations. How they can tell the personality of the persons. Whether they are quotes, religious ones or even the faces of the people you love, tattoos never fail to disclose a little about you.

Apart from the tattooing and the artwork, there were plenty of tattoo supplies as well including inks and tattoo machines. A lot of times we only get to see the final product but these are the things that are needed to make it.

We met a lot of people who showed up at the fest, had a let lot of fun appreciating the artwork glaring around the arena. Yet, for some it was tough luck to find their favourite artist doing a small patch tattoo. This meant that a bunch of such enthusiasts had to return without a souvenir on their skin. This was a one-off let down in an overall impressive fest.

Tattoo making contests and performances by famous artists playing electric sitar and fusion music acted as fillers. People shared jokes and stories behind their tattoos.
While they believed in the motto- ' We believe in the artist', as an ArtyManav we also think that it's the artists hard work that pays off and makes every single tattoo piece a work of art.
